Conflict Free Diamonds

Conflict diamonds or blood diamonds are terms for diamonds mined by rebel movements to finance wars and acts of terror. They often use child labour, fail to provide safety equipment and pay unfair wages.

Trade in illicit stones has fuelled decades of conflicts in countries such as Angola, Cote d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Sierra Leone.

Conflict-free diamonds are those mined and traded following the Kimberley Process, a joint initiative involving governments, industry and civil society to stem the flow of blood diamonds by imposing extensive requirements on its members to enable them to certify shipments of rough diamonds as conflict-free.

Diamonds used by The Allen Brown Gallery are purchased from legitimate sources not involved in funding conflict in compliance with United Nations Resolutions. Our sellers guarantee that they are conflict free, based on personal knowledge and/or written guarantees provided by the supplier of these diamonds.
